Eating out in Val d’Isère

Pier Paul Jack
This is really three restaurants in one. Well, two and a bar. But even at the bar one can order the most beautiful looking tapas you’ve ever seen – from the singing waitresses! The food in the two restaurants is superbly flamboyant. We love it here.

Dick’s Tea Bar
Not the first place most would think of for food but their all you can eat breakfasts are served in clean pleasant surroundings and really hit the spot. They open from 8-11am for breakfast and serve one of the only Sunday roasts in town on a Sunday afternoon. They also offer themed suppers – Mexican, Italian, India. Check listings for details.

Billabong
Part clothing store, part American diner. It’s actually located inside the Quicksilver/Billabong shop just up from the main roundabout in town. Superb burgers, wraps, salads and shakes; this place is open from 9am-10pm and you can browse through the store while you wait for your food.

Victor’s
This place has always been better known as a bar. But, if you can bear to walk all the way past the long bar you’ll find Victor’s “Dining Club” offering a host of Asian Fusion Cuisine. They’ll have your taste buds jangling in no time. Try their fantastic duck!

Switch Rodeo Kitchen
Located just next to the Portillo building, this offers food throughout the day ranging from all day breakfasts to burgers, and lots in between. On sunny days the large sun terrace has been big enough to host cricket matches.

Le Petit Danois
Open all day from 8am serving Danish or traditional breakfasts, the Danois serves pies, hot dogs and great panini on its bar menu, then serves up a much more sophisticated menu in the evening when its dedicated restaurant opens. Located in the centre above the bus stop roundabout.

Bar Jacques
In th middle of town Bar Jacques is a great, cosy family run restaurant with a menu focussing on food from south-western France and the Savoyard. Fantastic Foie Gras and the best Cassoulet you’ve ever tasted.

Bananas
Situated on the base of the nursery slope, this Val d’Isère institution has a mexican themed menu with nachos and fajitas on offer. It also does a great line in burgers in a truly unique environment. A great place for lunch or dinner.

Moris Pub
Hard to miss at the top of the town centre. It operates a Burger kitchen from 4-9pm, serving home made gourmet burgers with a range of toppings from a straight cheese burger to the Mexican with sour cream and guacamole. The portions are huge. And don’t miss their ever popular fish and chip night every Friday.

Pizza Flash
Better known for its delivery and take out service, it also offers an eat-in service with a relaxed atmosphere and super friendly service. It is located next to the Galerie de Cimes in the centre of town.

La Belle Etoile
This is one of the new breed of restaurants in town and is simply awesome. The food is second to none, ranging from Sushi, through Chow Mein to Carpaccio of Foie Gras. Though more formal than many of the fondue oriented restaurants around town, the atmosphere is kept relaxed and friendly with music from the multi-talented John St. John.

Le Lodge
Right in the centre of town this is a great place to eat in a vibrant atmosphere. It’s always busy so book ahead. It has been the Echo’s favourite fondue venue since forever. And they do set menus, steaks and pizzas.
